Throughout this section we have suggested you ask a prospective personal trainer a series of questions. This page aims to summarize these questions into distinct categories. Although these questions are extensive, they are by no means exhaustive. If you can think of your own questions, by all means ask them.

Knowledge and experience
• What qualifications do you have?
• Are you a member of REPs?
• Are you first aid qualified?
• Do you have a client portfolio I could see?
• What is your fitness specialism?
• Do you ever sit fitness booster courses?

Programming etc.
• Do you perform initial health screenings?
• What if I fail the screening?
• What forms of exercise will I perform during a session?
• Do you do house visits?
• Do you have access to a gym?
• How many times a week will I need to see you?
• How will my progress be monitored?
• Do you give dietary and nutrition advice?

Terms and conditions

• Do I need to buy sessions in blocks?
