The Register of Exercise Professionals - aka REPs - is an independent
body aiming to regulate the UK's health, fitness and exercise
industry.
Who is joining the Register of Exercise
Professionals?
The Register of Exercise Professionals is aimed at all instructors,
coaches and teachers involved in exercise and fitness. Groups
who have already registered include personal trainers, fitness
instructors, coaches, aerobic instructors and exercise teachers.
The Register of Exercise Professionals has three operating levels
of entry. Each level is briefly discussed below.
Level 1-
Assistant fitness instructor
Assistant fitness instructors are not required hold a formal
fitness qualification to gain provisional entry onto the Register
of Exercise Professionals at Level 1 - providing they are fully
supervised at work by a fully qualified senior member of staff.
Level 2-
Fitness instructor
There are three routes of entry on Level 2 of REPs.
Level 2 S/NVQ within field of fitness and exercise - awarding
bodies.
Graduates
Graduates holding a relevant degree in health, fitness or exercise
may join the Register of Exercise Professionals on a provisional

Continued personal development
The Register of Exercise Professionals is crucially aware that
in order to provide UK consumers with committed and educated
exercise professionals, personal trainers, fitness instructors
and coaches etc. should look to periodically develop their exercise
and fitness knowledge.
